[…] Hinson’s attorney, Ken Free, began the press conference by reading from a prepared statement (available here) which included a timeline of events that begins with Hinson discovering a tracking device on his vehicle and ends with him being cleared of all charges in five separate investigations. Cara,
Until this time I felt you were fair and fairly non-political. But it has become clear that you see only one side of this issue and are not open to the other, and use your religon to support your view. Some who resigned from the 101 Board had not even read the report.
A lot of wrong has been done ‘in the name of God”. Prior to this, I’ve held you up as someone who I could count on for fairness, a blog that promoted a cause that was humble and just. No more, I’m afraid.
Ginger, I’m sorry that you feel that way. I value your opinion. But quite honestly, I don’t understand why you think I see one only side of the issue. That isn’t the case. I went to a press conference and I posted an attorney’s statement and detailed quotes from the people who spoke. (There was only one other blogger present, and computer issues kept him from blogging yesterday.) I haven’t added my thoughts on any of this. I just reported what happened.
For the record, I think there are many, many sides to this story. One side is God’s side, and that’s the absolute Truth of what happened. And then there are the multiple perspectives of those who were involved and those who are trying to understand what happened. And as human beings, I don’t think we’ll ever come to one shared truth about it.
Please don’t assume that you know which “side” I’m on. I think the Hinson vs. Wray scenario is a false argument to begin with. It’s not about cop vs. cop to me. If I had to choose a “side,” it would be “truth” — that leads to repentence, forgiveness, accountability, healing, resolution, change. I haven’t read the RMA report, but I don’t need to. I continue to trust the City leaders who are charged with resolving this situation.
I do feel compassion for both James Hinson, David Wray and especially for their families as they wait through what has become a long process towards closure. But I trust God’s timing, because I know that “there is a time for every purpose and for every work.” (from Ecclesiates)
Peace to you, CM
