Guilford County was one of three LMEs (local management entities) in North Carolina selected to take part in a Housing Support Team Pilot Project for homeless people with mental illness.
The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services awarded $644,280 to the Guilford Center for the 26-month project. Partnering agencies are Family Service of the Piedmont, the Greensboro Housing Coalition and Open Door Ministries of High Point.
The program is funded through North Carolina’s Mental Health Trust Fund. The other selected LMEs are Durham and Western Highlands. The Housing Support Teams are expected to be operational by July 2007.
This news was first announced at the state homeless conference in April 2007. A public announcement was made at today’s presentation of Guilford County’s Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness.
