Serves: Families in need of assistance with furniture. Families (with an agency referral) may shop for free furniture on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and noon. Families must arrange their own transportation. In 2006, Barnabas served approximately 500 families between March and December.
Donate: Barnabas accepts donations of furniture and other items (”anything that helps to make a house a home,” such as linens, dishes, appliances, mattresses, box springs, artwork, lamps, etc.) from community members and businesses. Barnabas will pick up donated items and furniture. Call to arrange a pick-up time for furniture donation: 336.370.4002.
Staff: Barnabas operates on a small budget, with two part-time staff members and 8-10 volunteers from the community. Barnabas works with federal parole and probation authorities to provide community service options.
Funding: Barnabas Furniture Ministry is faith-based and all funding comes from local churches. Barnabas currently has 14 partnering churches. Tax-deductible financial contributions may be made to Barnabas Furniture Ministry, c/o Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N. Greene St., Greensboro, NC, 27401.
