Protesting the war and feeding the homeless

This afternoon, a group from World Can’t Wait came down to the block (Lee and Eugene) to protest the war. Later, the folks from Food Not Bombs served their regular Thursday evening meal for the homeless (usually served at St. Mary’s) under a tree in front of Greensboro Urban Ministry, just down the road. My friends from GPD’s bike squad hung out and kept watch over the calm and peaceful scene. Good times. Photos below.

I asked one these guys holding the anti Bush sign who he voted for and he replied: “Not Bush”. So I asked if he could be more specific and he replied: “The other guy”. I then asked who was the other guy and he walked away from me………..So in other words he didn’t vote. These were some real winners that were protesting! They thought it was a trendy thing to do so they did it, they probably don’t even know where the war is taking place, much less that we have a system of ‘checks and balances’ not a Dictatorship. Bush can’t just send us to war without it passing the House and Senate, which it did with only a hand full of votes against. Don’t let any congress person say they were misled by Bush cause then they will be admitting they did no research on their own and just took the President’s word fo it. That is admitting to the American people that they are just accepting their paycheck and not working for their elected job. In order for the “Systems of Checks and Balances’ to work each elected official must do their own research and come to their own findings, then vote accordingly. Sorry for the 3rd grade Govt. lesson but obviously these protestors need one. (And a few could have used a bath as well)
