Greater things are still to be done in this city
Via Facebook today from fellow NightWatcher, Brittany:
I was just sitting here thinking about you and the people of Greensboro. I wanted to send you this video for Charlotte and you can imagine the people and places of Greensboro!!!! I believe this with all my heart over Charlotte and Greensboro as well. Be blessed and be encouraged because GREATER THINGS ARE YET TO COME AND GREATER THINGS ARE STILL TO BE DONE IN THE CITY!!!!!!!!!!!
Amen, girl, amen. I believe it, too. Thank you. Love you.
Lyrics below.
“God of This City”
Chris TomlinYou’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You areYou’re the light in this darkness
You’re the hope to the hopeless
You’re the peace to the restless
You areFor there is no-one like our God
There is no-one like our GodGreater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things have still to be done hereYou’re the Lord of creation
The creator of all things
You’re the King above all kingsYou’re the strength in the weakness
You’re the love to the broken
You’re the joy in the sadnessGreater things have yet to come
Greater things have still to be done
In this city
Where glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for You and
Love for you in this city

I listen to WBFJ, too, and am really blessed by it. It’s good to hear what God is doing in Winston, and through your church. And I agree with your prayer! Thanks for commenting.

As my alarm went off this morning to wake me up from my sleep the following words were the first words I heard today being sung as broadcast by WBFJ:
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things have still to be done
In this city
Our church, WinstonSalemFirst, is reaching out to our city. Now I see as evident by this webpage that many other churches and people are doing the same thing. God is moving if we would look to Him and keep our eyes fixed on Him!
I continue to pray right now that God will bless His people who pray and listen to His voice to do His work in the city no matter what city it is . . . Greensboro, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, or even Nairobi, Kenya. God’s work be blessed!

I am so moved right now, was watching the TV and my mind kept coming to this song. Very touching song, reassurinh me that there are better things to be done. Whenever I look at the situations in various parts of the world, I cry my heart out, very unbelievable things: child prostitution/ human trafficking, the homeless people, the exploited, the poor,…….we all know about these things. This song is what calms me down whenever I think of these and it makes me believe that things will be better in all these places with time.

Beautiful lyrics. Thank you for sharing.
Cara Michelle this has been my cry most of my life I suppose as I watched those who govern squander money and resources on the greedy when so many “greater things are yet to be done”.
Right now in Greensboro the elected City Council is negotiating to pay off rather than go to trial as many as 61 Black police officers who are claiming racial discrimination. But the FBI and the SBI both came in to investigate these allegations and found no racial discrimination. The city manager however claimed racial discrimination and the city council backed him and even after the two federal and state investigative organization disagreed they councilors will not relent and corre4ct their mistake. So they are paying off people who were not harmed at all. Just think what that money could do! It could op-en and operate a day center for the homeless, it could open and operate the free dental clinic for the poor (remember a retired dentist donated his equipment and the dentist have agreed to donate their time if the city would open a space for the clinic.) I get so upset by the wrong and stupid and irresponsible.
Closing the White Street Landfill was one of the irresponsible and hugely expensive acts. Hauling our garbage to another county is costing us about $13 million a year and will go up from here since the state won’t allow moire landfills to be built and gas is going no where but up. I agree that it is no fun living next to a landfill, but the landfill was there when these people bought their homes! Why should the rest of the city be made to pay for their mistake when there are so many better things to do with that money than bail fools out? Besides that, the city did offer to buy the homes of anyone who wanted to leave the area around the landfill. Only a handful of people took them up on it. So these people want to stay where they are they just want to close the necessary landfill that WAS THERE FIRST.
I would like to put my faith in God that things will get better but I remember that he does not interfere with the affairs of man. He only makes note of how man conducts those affairs. So if the criminals and thieves and liars and greedy are to be kept from doing too much harm we will have to see to it ourselves.
Thank you again for the lovely lyrics. It made me cry in frustration, but it also assured me that there are more good people than bad out there. BB
