Cops: More downtown good problems

About an hour after this, police downtown stopped a car on Elm Street for an open container violation. Somebody in the car had an open bottle of liquor. That led to powder and crack cocaine charges. Other officers stopped the next car in line, also for open container. That led to a gun charge, for carrying a concealed weapon. This was in addition to the guy with the knife earlier. (And whatever else happened. I didn’t get a play-by-play of the whole night.)
A cop asks:
“Are these the young professionals that they’re talking about?”
Party on, y’all.

[…] UPDATE: And that’s not all. Read about more “good great problems” downtown later that night. […]
We should be excited about going downtown at night why?
LOL. I figured somebody would ask that eventually. Actually, I love being downtown at night, even on the weekends. But then, I also love doing street outreach, so I wouldn’t compare myself to Jane Average Citizen.
I don’t post the cops’ perspective to drive people away from downtown. I post it because I want to make sure it gets heard among all the cheering for the bar owners. It’s great to have a vibrant downtown, but it brings law enforcement challenges, and the City Council needs to keep that in mind and give GPD the necessary tools to maintain law and order downtown and protect and serve all citizens, so that we can all have a great time downtown.
