From Sara at Leslie’s House in High Point, Guilford County’s only women’s homeless shelter. Help a sister out, y’all.

Greetings to our wonderful neighbors,

I want to give everyone an update on Leslie’s House and all of our wonderful progress. We have been blessed with a new Interim Executive Director, Judy Mendenhall. She has placed several supportive policies and programs in place for West End Ministries which have been proven to be advantageous. One of those programs is the utilization of the West End Ministries’ food Ministry that now incorporates serving dinners at Leslie’s House. The initial purpose of our food Ministry is to serve our neighbors hot meals in the West End Monday through Friday. With the addition of Leslie’s House, Judy found it only fitting to add the guests of the shelter to our dinner plans.

However, this leaves Friday, Saturday and Sunday open for dinners. In other words, we need folks to come in and serve dinners on those nights. Leslie’s House serves dinner nightly at 6:00pm. Individuals or groups can come by the shelter and either drop off prepared meals, prepare meals, or help serve meals for 25 women on either one of these nights. Our goal is to fill up the dinner schedule for the rest of this year; that’s only 39 days! We challenge each of you to spread the word and to do your part in helping feed the deserving women at Leslie’s House.

Anyone who is interested in signing up to serve dinners to the ladies at Leslie’s House on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, we urge you to please give us a call.

It takes the entire community to make Leslie’s House a safe haven for homeless women and we thank everyone for all their ongoing efforts to make this possible.
