Sitting on porch of friend I’ve known 10 yrs; homeless until Nov 2007; “How do you like your new place?” “I’m getting used to it.” Nice.

Things we take for granted: our own sink, toilet and shower.

Update, also on Facebook:

three of us went to dinner and then we took him home and sat on his porch and had coffee.  it’s so great to see him doing well and being happy.  it gives me hope for my friends who are still struggling.  not just with homelessness, but with addiction, mental illness, childhood trauma, family issues, and all the things that keep people broken.  and i know so well that the broken people are not all homeless or poor. many of those people wear a face that looks like success to the rest of the world.  it was so good tonight for the three of us to be together and just be who we are, where we are on our own journeys with Jesus, all of us with our sins and our struggles, but sharing one hope and one faith in one Savior who is the healer for us all.  it feels so good to be with transparent people.  i heart hope.
