I can’t do this. I don’t know how to help anybody. People drowning in the bottle. People trapped in addiction. People tortured by mental illness. People being beaten. People getting raped. People going to jail and prison. People haunted by childhood trauma and abuse. People overwhelmed by lifetimes of tragedies, one after the after. People with nowhere to live, nowhere to go, nowhere to be. All around me — a human tidal wave of pain, pain, pain.
Homeless to City Council: Don’t reduce our funding

GREENSBORO — As the city considers budget reductions for next year, a group of homeless people and advocates are asking that the budget not be balanced at the expense of services for the poor. About half a dozen people brought their pleas directly to the City Council on Tuesday night.

No injuries were reported when a fire broke out in a trailer today.
The fire was reported about 12:20 p.m. Monday in an empty mobile home at 1727 W. Lee St., about a block east of the Greensboro Coliseum.
