helphomelessMy ministry partner, Audrie Keen and I are praying for the following needs to be met for our ministry to the homeless and hungry in Greensboro. Please pray with us and help us as you feel led:

1.) We need an office, preferably in the general vicinity of downtown Greensboro, but definitely on the bus line.  A small space is OK, just as long as it’s large enough to hold a refrigerator, shelving and a desk and chairs.  We need a central, accessible place to store food and other items to distribute to homeless and hungry people, and a safe place to meet with people to talk to them about available resources, and to help them fill out applications for unemployment, housing, and benefits (food stamps, Medicaid, public housing and Section 8, Social Security disability, etc.).

2.) We need donations of non-perishable food, as well as items that can’t be purchased with food stamps, such as toilet paper, laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, and toiletries.  We are also seeking donations of bus passes, either single rides or multi-ride passes.  Our friends do not have transportation to get to appointments (medical, mental health, recovery meetings, treatment, church, etc.).

3.) We are looking for individuals and especially, families, who are willing to invite a homeless person or persons into your home for dinner and family time. Homeless people most often have lost connections with their families, and the chance to spend time in a family setting is healing and restorative.  You may also consider allowing them to take a shower and wash their clothes.  While this may seem scary to you if you’ve never done it before, we assure that you’ll get even more out of it than they will, and that it can a blessing to you and to your family, in ways you can’t begin to imagine.

4.) People with some good recovery time who are willing to invite a homeless person to A.A. or N.A. and to pick them up and take them with you to a meeting, hopefully, on a consistent basis, if they are ready and willing.  It is very difficult to get clean and sober when you’re on the street.  Having a relationship with a sober friend who understands addiction and is in recovery can help.

5.) Prayer partners who are willing to pray consistently for the needs of our homeless and hungry friends.  We will send you emails and ask that you pray as God leads you.  We also ask that all prayer requests be kept strictly confidential, and that anonymity be preserved.  We will also send you reports of how God answers your prayers for our friends.

Donations are tax deductible, including the donation of office space if you pay the rent. Please respond in the comments.  Please be sure to include a correct email address with your comment (email address will not be visible on the web page) so that we may contact you.

Thank you for praying with us for God to meet these needs, in His timing, in His way, and for His glory alone.  We know that we know that we know that God loves our friends, and that He alone is able to meet and provide for their needs.  We are honored and humbled for every opportunity to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus, and we humbly invite you to join with us in this ministry of love.

With peace and love, Audrie & Michele
