Sights and sounds from the 2009 Feast of Caring, including a prayer from the rabbi of Temple Emanuel.

“Let us realize that as long as there are poor in our community, as long as there are poor, then there truly is a lack of justice.”

– Rabbi Fred Guttman

The Feast of Caring, a dinner of soups and breads, is the kick-off to the annual fundraising campaign of Greensboro Urban Ministry, which provides “crisis intervention and emergency services through the basics of food, shelter, and clothing, but [they] also help many individuals and families break the cycles of poverty, hunger, addiction, and homelessness.”

Note: My friends (and neighbors) Sarah and Marcy are pictured, serving soup. Both of them heart the homeless, in word and in deed. I love you, ladies!!
